Easy Ways to Recycle

Recycling seems like a chore to some folks, but the truth is that there are a million small ways people can be friendly to the earth. It doesn’t all involve glass and cans. Some of it is even (dare I say it?) fun.

To get the benefits of recycling, you first need to develop a mindset about throwing things away. Think about the things in your life before you toss them. Look at your possessions creatively. Can your item be used in a new or different way? And before you buy something new, could you give one of your existing items some new life?
To help you further, here are a few ideas on easy ways to recycle.
No More Plastic Grocery Bags
Instead of taking those plastic grocery bags from the store, invest in a couple nice reusable tote bags and keep them in your car. When you run in to get groceries, pop them in there. As soon as you empty the bags, place them in your car again. This way you’ll always have them in case you need them.
If you do get some of the plastic bags, don’t just toss them right away. Think of a way to use them. (Like when you take your dog for a walk or bringing baked goods to a friend.)
Plastic Containers
The inexpensive plastic containers are great because they are cheap, but they also tend to wear out quickly. Instead of throwing them away, use them for craft supplies or painting projects.
Clothing
Never toss clothing! There are just too many people out there who can use them. Donate them to Goodwill or another reputable recycling place.
Linens
Old bed sheets that get ripped or otherwise shrink and wear out can be used as a drop cloth for painting. Or, if your family is into doing homemade haircuts, they made excellent floor clothes to catch the hair snips.
