Celebrate Family Day on September 22nd. Family Day is a nationwide movement to get parents and children to sit down at the dinner table together.
Why should your family sit down and eat a meal together?
- The interaction fostered during the time families sit down together for dinner helps keep children substance free.
- When families eat together it gives you time to talk and for everyone to share how their day went.
- It helps your children learn what is expected from them when people sit down to eat a meal.
- Family meals are the perfect time to listen to your children and hear what they have to say.
If you don’t already sit down to a family meal at least several times a week, start a new trend. Family Day says it may be one of the most important things you do to help keep your children substance free.
We don’t sit down to supper every night as a family, but we do try to get there at least 3 or 4 times a week. My goal is to make time more often.
How many days a week does your family sit down to dinner together?
