Eating Right Can Help Symptoms of CFS

I usually try to eat right. I always have to work on incorporating more protein in my diet. But most of the time, I do ok. Unless of course, when I get so very busy (eg. the last couple of weeks), and I am not feeling fantastic. Then I resort to unhealthy take out, and easily prepared foods. Which are full of chemicals, and the very nasty mineral called salt. The last little while, this kind of food has been featured in my eating habits. It totally has to stop. Yesterday, I woke up with swollen joints, and this morning I awoke with searing back pain. I know that stress is a large factor here….but eating as badly as I have been, is certainly not helping.
Earlier tonight, I was looking for some inspiration on reintroducing proper eating back into my diet, and I found this commercial. I sort of remember it from my childhood. You may recall it, its an animated ad called “Make a Saturday”. It did the trick, it made me think about how a banana would be really good right now, instead of what I actually ate for dinner (I am keeping that information to myself).

Hi! Definitely the best thing I did for myself was to eliminate as many processed foods as possible, especially anything made with wheat flour, however “whole” it may be. Eating bagels, crackers, or cookies is a sure fire way to bring on a crash, in my experience. The second-best thing I did was to buy a rice-cooker! No more pot-watching (which usually turns into pot-forgetting followed by pot-boiling-over), I just throw the stuff in and walk away. I love technology sometimes!
Don’t remember that commercial, but do agree that eating right is probably more important for CFS people than “regular” people. I need to be gluten-free which is a big old pain!
The commercial came from the era of schoolhouse rocks! cartoons, I think. They are a little before my time….but I definitely remember the reruns. Anyway, it was a good reminder for me. Will have to replay the commercial again, right before I go grocery shopping tomorrow.
Ick it would be a pain to have to cut out all gluten products. I am just not that careful But good for you for doing it.
Sylvia, interesting how bread stuff brings on a crash for you….me its different things all the time, but baked potatoes, carrots, red wine, and chinese food will always do it to me….and of course, anykind of family style dinner – where there are lots of people around a table, and tons of food all over the place. Thats a surefire way, to put me straight to bed. I need to learn how to say no to those events.
