Ed Swiderski Is Not Catch

When my sister was visiting a couple of weeks ago, we watched the finale of the Bachelorette with Jillian Harris . I can remember thinking that Ed Swiderski, the man whom Jillian ultimately picked, was a great catch. Handsome, but not overly pretty (I wonder about the guys with the washboard abs – doesn’t that kind of body take some crazy upkeep?), he’s got a good job, he got along great with her family (Her dad was pretty darn smitten), and he made her laugh.

stand-alone-cosmo-mchelleMy sister made the comment to my mom that, “Ed is a ‘Matt.’”  Matt is her husband. He’s a wonderful guy – funny, handsome, great family man – so this was high praise.

This past week, a couple of women have reported that they either slept with Ed (Lindsey Johnson) and/or recieved texts saying that Jillian Harris is not his “type,” and that he prefers “blondes” to brunettes like Harris, since he and Harris became engaged.

Johnson told Us Weekly, “I feel gross, used and completely violated. It shocks me that he was able to do something like that to me.”

Steffen, who dated Swiderski before he began filming ‘The Bachelorette’ in March, says the reality star tried to entice her into bed a week after he proposed to Harris. She says of her decision to go public with the allegation: “Ed’s not worth my time, but if I can help someone avoid heartbreak, I’m gonna do that.”

At the After the Rose show, the show that follows the finale (The Finale’s Finale?), Ed and Jillian said that they had spent most of the time since their taped engagement together. I think that they said that they only had spent 5 days apart. Ed slept with Johnson in the week following the engagement.

Ed is not a Matt. Not even a little bit.

Jillian Harris has spoken to the press about the issue of Ed and his other women. She said that they are trying “...to find humor…” in the situation. Your fiance slept with another woman. He said that you were not his type. Where is the humor in that?

What made this man believe that this would not come out?  Or maybe he didn’t care, figured he’d talk his way out of the trouble?  I do not get cheating or cheaters. Does falling in love on a television show mean that it’s all fake? I don’t believe it was fake for Jillian. I didn’t watch the show that much, but when I did, I noticed that she really agonized over some of what she went through. Dating a whole bunch of good-looking guys at once must be very stressful. (I’m only partially sarcastic there).

Are you in the habit of believing tabloid trash? If you consider it a reliable source for your blogs, it sure makes your blog comments worthless. I trust by now you’ve issued an apology for your rude, untruthful remarks about a fine man and his fiancee.

    • Ed and his fiance have talked about this situation, including Ed’s very un-fine behavior, and they have said that they are working through it. I don’t owe anyone an apology for writing about direct quotes from the people involved. If it was a case of “a reliable source” or “a friend of,” then I would question it, but I’ve read articles where ALL the parties involved are quoted. This is a blog entry, written for entertainment purposes, not some sort of sworn statement.
