Thanks for posting this. The trip occured during the summer before the December riots last year. We were there in the Masai Mara in time for the wildebeest migration--I have photos of them as well--but the buggers never crossed the Mara River while we were there. They were too busy eating grass! There were thousands of them. Amazing. 

As for the elephants, they&#039;ll just sand there while you take your photographs--and you&#039;re so close. They&#039;re not like the giraffes at all, who run off when the jeeps get too close. And the lions? Yikes! They walk right past the front of the jeep, like they&#039;re taunting you, daring you to step out in front of them.

If you ever get a chance to go to Kenya, I recommend the Fairmont Mara Safari Club. It&#039;s upscale, very nice, and everyone&#039;s friendly beyond belief.
