Elizabeth Jolley’s Diaries

February 22, 2007 by Heather Goldsmith

Today I was saddened by the news of Elizabeth Jolley’s death February 13. Her funeral was yesterday. At 83 years she’d lived a full life and the news was not unexpected. Although a local author, she lived in Perth, Western Australia; I never met the woman in person but was always inspired by her life and those who spoke of her.

Jolley’s first book was published when she was 53.

According to this news story Jolley’s diaries will be kept secret and locked away from the public for the next 25 years.

  1. I love this line, Heather:

“Jolley’s first book was published when she was 53.”

    That’s encouraging. :)

  2. Yeah, lol, that’s one reason I included that information. Jolley’s novels were rejected time after time, but if she could do it, so can we. She *was* a living legend around here. ;-)
