Emily’s List – Come On Girls!

Remember the Boston Tea Party?
The tag line was No Taxation without Representation!
During women’s suffrage No Taxation without Representation! was a tagline also used to get women the vote.
Of course, men’s response back then was “you don’t work, you don’t pay taxes.”
Except that now 72% of us do work and all of us pay taxes.
But, America still ranks 71st in the world for female respresentation in our own government. That combines all levels from federal to local government. That’s pathetic.
Girls, Ladies, Women, Sisters – that’s taxation without representation. That’s unacceptable.
Like our issue with the Brits, we still like lots of things about them and we forgive them for hoarding political power over us – Americans still fought for our right to participate in our own government. As we should’ve.
See the parallel?
Women still like men, we still want to be friends and marry you and make babies with you and all that. We forgive you for trying to hoard all the power. But, we need to fight for our right to equally participate in our own government. We should.
See, we make up 51% of the population and control much of the gross national spending and 72% of us pay employment taxes and by virtue of all that, its time we represented half the government. We’re entitled.
But, Hillary lost and there are no women to vote for in my house or senate district, you might say.
I know, right?
But, then it occured to me.
I want women to be represented by women in Congress and in the House of Representatives and in the Judiciary and in my local government.
While I can’t vote in say, North Carolina where Kay Hagan is running for a Senate seat, I CAN help her win.
* You can contribute to her campaign no matter where you live.
* You can make phone calls to potential voters and campaign for the female candidates who will represent your interests.
* You can forward information about Emily’s List to educate all your friends.
Emily’s List helps women politicians win.
You can go to Emilyslist.org and learn about the women candidates, where they are running, who they are running against and contribute money or even learn how to campaign for them.
As an underrepresented woman I have a stake in whether Dina Titus wins her race for the House seat in Nevada.

I equally care whether Suzanne Kosmas, running in Florida for a House seat, promises to vote in my interests.
This year Emily’s List is backing, and helping elect SEVEN women for House of Representatives or to serve as a Senator.
I CARE deeply whether Jeanne Shaheen wins her Senate seat in New Hampshire or not. And you should too
I want representation in my government. I want my daughter to see herself being represented in her government.
Go to Emily’s List and learn how YOU can empower yourself by taking political action.
We can change the face of politics.

OK let see if I have this right – In the first article the subject of equal pay for equal work comes up and I believe it is a very valid issue and deserves to be implemented nationally. Now scrolling down to this article on Kosmas I need to note that while she was in the Florida state house she actually voted against establishing the Living Wage Amendment in Florida. Now she is running for congress and why should she get any working persons vote?
Half of congress is men voting against living wage amendments.
I would never vote for Suzanne Kosmas. She lies, never shows up to anything unless she gets money for it. She voted against the living wage and for the war while she was in the state house. The first six years she was there she did not sponsor or co-sponsor a single bill. Untill the war then she co-sponsored HR-9033 in support of Bush’ invasion of Iraq. She claims that she did it to support the troops. That is a flat out lye! Is says nothing about the troops and only talks about support of Pres. Bush and his invasion. Don’t believe me check it out yourself. It is only one page long and has no mention of the troops. She in her run for the state house took money from a friend/contributer and then tried to pull financial gain for this person. The list is endless as to why we as Women should never vote for Suzanne Kosmas. I will only be voting for Clint Curtis for Congress District 24 Florida.
Just wanted to comment that Kay Hagen is running in NC, not SC. Though it would be nice if she were here in SC, as we have, I believe, the lowest number of female representatives in the U.S.
