aprbig_cover.jpgI finally wrestled the April edition of Entrepreneur Magazine away from my husband. I guess I need to start checking the mail everyday so I can get my hands on it first!

In this issue, something on the front cover grabbed my attention:

FACE IT – there are only 24 hours in a day. Here’s how to get control of your time, your life and and your business.

They highlight two different people with very busy schedules. There is the working mother who is the CEO of her own company. She is married to a man with a very busy career, has 2 young children and found herself in a situation where she needed to take care of her elderly father.

Then there’s the guy who is the co-founder of a software company that has over 30 employees and is also married with 2 young children.

Their lives are busy to say the least. Here are a couple examples of some of the tips they give for gaining control of your time:

  • Keep a list of backup babysitters for emergencies.
  • Compartmentalize your life.
  • Write a short personal mission statement that reminds you why you do it all.
  • Have a few undisturbed rituals. This might mean having a quick but quiet breakfast or dinner or taking a 30-minute break.
  • Don’t push yourself when you’re tired.
  • If you don’t subscribe to Entrepreneur magazine and you work from home or own your own company, I highly recommend it. I have gleaned a lot of good information and look forward to receiving it every month.
