Just one more cookie while no one’s around
Under the stairwell in the hall
Savoring bits of chocolately goodness
Tomorrow I’ll run for 30 minutes extra
Looking in the mirror that night
I don’t recognize the person looking back at me
Veins of blue on cottage cheese thighs
Empty belly after a purge and flush
I remember being 98 pounds
Now I’m double that number and more
The old photos a testimony to my failure
How I’ve decided to “let myself go”
Elephant in the room, that’s me
No one ever said I was my body
Only my ego thinks this is so
Wise up and just live in the now.

I hate to admit this, but you have my vote. I really really like this poem.
Thanks, Aerin. I really liked yours as well. I didn’t realize we could vote so didn’t. =/ I didn’t even tell anyone about the contest as I don’t write poetry.
I just did a free flowing thing in 5 minutes without editing as I’m really embarrassed of it — poetry is not my thang!
