Eton FR300 Hand-cranked Radio FlashlightWhether for use as an emergency radio or just in an off-the-grid situation, Eton’s FR300 is a feature packed unit that offers entertainment, illumination and charging capabilities, all by the power of the crank.

With the FR300, you’ll have access to AM/FM radio, TV VHF channels 2-13 (audio), all 7 NOAA weather channels plus their ‘Alert‘ service, an LED flashlight, and charger for your cell phone.

The hand crank system juices up a built-in rechargeable Ni-MH battery pack. You can also run the unit via 3 AA batteries or an AC adaptor, and the AC adaptor can recharge the Ni-MH pack. In emergency situations, the flashlight can ‘flash‘ automatically and there’s an audio siren feature as well.

Size-wise, the FR300 is just 6.5 inches by 6 inches and only 2.5 inches deep and weighs a little more than 1 lb, which makes it great if you’re heading into the back country and don’t want to miss the game.

All in all, a quality package from a proven manufacturer with a price tag of around $50 USD. Here’s the product page at EtonCorp.com for more details as well as a list of retailers.
