Have you ever heard this expression? According to the findings of a study published in the American Journal of Public Health, there is merit to the saying. The more children a mother has, the less teeth she has, despite income level or social status.
While researchers aren’t sure about the reason, there are theories. One such theory is that pregnant women do have higher rates of plaque and bleeding gums. Some women gag very badly while brushing their teeth due to morning sickness, other women skip routing dental visits to avoid x-rays.
Regardless of the reason, pregnant women really do need to take care of their teeth (Keep those pearly whites healthy during your pregnancy).
Dental visits are vital for health (5 great reasons to visit your dentist regularly) so don’t let pregnancy get in the way of your mouth and your teeth.
