A new study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine yesterday suggests that working out can slightly boost your levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), the good kind of cholesterol. (FYI, low-density lipoprotein or LDL is the bad kind.)
These findings were based on an analysis of previously published studies, which revealed that individuals who are more physically active have higher HDL levels. The results also suggest that exercising for longer periods has a more significant effect that short periods of exercise. That means you’re probably better off with the 30-minute walk than the three 10-minute walks — but do what you can when you can.
