Exercise before pregnancy reduces the risk of gestational diabetes, according to a recent study. The study involved 21,765 women over a period of 8 years and is one of the largest of its kind. The risk of diabetes in women who exercised most is 23% less than those who exercised the least. It was found that brisk walking and climbing stairs reduce the risk of diabetes. The study also found that women who watched more television without much exercise are more likely to develop diabetes than those who are active.
