Extreme Classic Offbeat Homes: Hillside Living

This week’s addition of Classic Offbeat is extreme, as in extremely classic. Way back, during the very first week of Offbeat, Kevin featured this dream of a building.

Living within a hill is major extreme. Kevin’s classic post about this hillside housing development in Liuzhou, China, is well worth checking out. More spec and photo links are included.

  1. Angelique says:

    Jennifer:

Happy new year! Hope it’s more offbeat than the last! :)

    I personally want to know:

    a) What the inside of these places look like; and
    b) How on god’s green earth do you get to the tippy top ones? Is there a zig-zag elevator? A curvy, steep path? Or perhaps a stairway inside the mountain?

    Just wonderin’ on a Tuesday…

    Angelique

  2. I love it! It reminds me a lot of ‘Habitat’, the housing development that was created in Montreal in 1967 for Expo 67. Wonderful then, still wonderful now!
