Fabulous Back to School Backpacks!
Now that it is nearing August I know that many kids are itching to get back to school. I was that kid. Yes, I know that I was a total geek. I wanted to go to school, not because I wanted to be social but because I wanted to be in school. Perhaps I loved the structure of school but I think it was because I just loved learning. I went to school to become a teacher, right?
Back to school shopping can be both expensive and fun for kids, as they get to pick and chose a new backpack, lunchbox, new clothing, and even new shoes. However, the new backpack should be able to last all year and be able to carry everything your preschooler or high schooler is bringing home at night.
I’ve collected the best of the best backpacks for you here. Enjoy the summary and click on the links for coupons and more details on the bags.
Little Miss Matched has some cute new messenger bags ( 12″ x 13″ x 5″) that are easily cleaned with soap and water, some adorable polka dot knapsacks with padded shoulders (and room for the cell), tote bags, pencil bags, and notebooks for passing in class.
KimmyShop.com has fabulous character backpacks and lunch boxes. I know that my absolute favorite lunchbox was a metal Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox. Shouldn’t your child have his favorite? So, get him that Hot Wheels Lunch Bag – ‘Red Hot’ or for your daughter, the Disney Tinker Bell ‘Side Pose’ Mid-Sized Backpack. They even have High School Musical X-Large Purse or Disney Hannah Montana Large Purse if your four year old is into that (because they ALL should be).
Madallie.com has all the Blabla backpacks for your preschoolers as well as some super hip lunch boxes.
Ty’s Toy Box has all of the character backpacks at fabulous prices for early elementary and preschool. Sesame Street, High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Disney, Thomas, Miss Trouble Totes, Gund, Transformers, Batman, Dora, Diego, etc. Prices range from $9.99 to $25.99.
In my opinion, LLBean has the best late elementary and teen backpacks. I carried my LLBean pack all through High School and College and never had an issue with it. They make a variety of styles and colors for all ages.
Pottery Barn Kids has recently picked up on the LLBean style backpacks and they look like they hold up just as LLBeans do. If you want a little more style (think polka dots) try PBKids. Recommended for elementary and tweens.
Just like Tys Toy Box, Target has all the character backpacks. My only issue with these is that they don’t hold up for more than one year. If you are looking for something sustainable, try something else.
Lands End, a favorite among us bloggers, also has some quality bags for kids. Made with great storage inside, the bags also come in fun colors and can be monogramed for middle school and tweens.
Hanna Andersson looks to have a quality bag that has a hook to attach their lunch bag. Decently priced for elementary kids at $29.00
Tuttibella has some very cute novelty packs for preschool and early elementary. Expensive in my opinion, but very cute. Will they last the wear and tear? Not sure.
Gap has Camo backpacks, messenger bags, lunchboxes, etc. but to be honest…they look like a cheap bag and one that is not going to hold up to a teen’s heavy load. Save your money or buy two.
And, don’t forget that we have a HUGE Back to School Giveaway Blast coming up with a Hello Kitty Lunch Box Kit AND an Iron Man Backpack from FabNY to giveaway to two different readers! Get our FEED and check back starting August 25.

Wow! What an array of backpacks and lunch boxes available for kids nowadays.
