Fat-Blocking Pill Soon To Be Released

By now you’ve probably heard about the over-the-counter version of Xenical that’s coming out soon, Alli. There’s been a lot of talk and excitement about this FDA-approved diet pill, but what’s it really about?
Alli is a pill that, when taken, will block about 25 percent of the fat that you eat. What you don’t digest goes straight through you – resulting in some unpleasant side effects (among others, “oily discharge” and “loose stools”). GlaxoSmithKline is trying to get the message out that it’s not a quick fix, and that you do need to exercise and watch your portions (they also recommend about 15g fat at each meal, and no more).
I’m surprised that people are so excited for this to come out. Who really wants to bring an extra pair of pants with them all the time in case they soil themselves, all to lose a couple of extra pounds? There are definitely better and more painless ways to lose weight.
Alli’s available for preorder right now on Drugstore.com and is expected to come out in mid-June.
