Fat March – From Boston To D.C.

The premiere of the ABC show Fat March was on last night (9 PM Eastern) and I tuned in, just because I can’t pass up a weight loss reality show. The premise is that 12 obese people will walk over 570 miles through nine states to win a prize (split between all) of $1.2 million – but for every person who leaves, they lose $10,000 each.
After only walking for a few days, a woman named Kim decided to bail out, but the rest of them stuck with it – and at the end of 8 days, many had lost over 15 pounds. After 500-lb Shane fractured his foot walking, the majority of the group voted him off – because they would have had to go back and walk 13 extra miles.
Their diets consist of fruit and veggies, lean protein, and whole grains, and they eat 5 small meals a day. I noticed them getting egg white omelets for their first breakfast – come on, they’re walking all day! Give them the whole egg!
This show doesn’t seem as interesting as Shaq’s Big Challenge or my old stand-by, The Biggest Loser, but it’s something to watch when most of the “good” shows won’t come on till September and many summer shows are wrapping up.

    Roberta,
I don’t think you can join since the show is already airing on ABC, but you can still watch it every week!
