Favorite Christmas tree ornament tutorials, free patterns & ideas

Yes, I know that Halloween was just here, but I like to get an early start on my Christmas crafting!

I love making Christmas ornaments, and I ended up creating quite a few original Christmas ornament patterns last year.

Here are some of my favorite Christmas ornament tutorials and how-tos from last year.  As always, these are my own original patterns and are not to be copied or reposted elsewhere without my permission.

Dog paw-print ornament (part one and part two):

At the risk of asking a stupid question, Chloe, what are those little “yo-yo” thingies? They sure are cute. Do you have directions on your blog for them?

These are great craft ideas for the holidays. It is a great way to spend quality time with the kids and do something fun and festive as well.

  3. Would you ever let me share this on my blog?

    Hi Eileen,

Yo-yos are little circles of fabric, sewn around the edges with a running stitch and then gathered to make a circle.

I’m creating a full tutorial on yo-yos this week, which should be up in the next few days :-)

    Hi Teach Mom How,

Thank you for asking permission to use my tutorials on my site :-)

You’re welcome to post a link to my tutorial as well as, using a photo, with a photo credit to me.

Please don’t copy the entire tutorial.

I require a credit with my full name, name of my blog and a link to Tangled Thread.

    thanks!

  6. Intriguing ornaments, Chloe, and so creative. Let me know when the yo-yo tutorial is up and I’ll link to it. My Quilting and Patchwork readers love yo-yos…and I do, too. I just found a bag of them I made some years ago. I’ll take a look and see if they’re appropriate for Christmas ornaments.

Hi Mary Emma – I’ve got the yo-yo circle tutorial online now :-)
