FluMist will soon be available in your local grocery store pharmacies.
An improved formula of the nasal flu vaccine was just approved by the FDA, said FluMist maker MedImmune in a statement.
Unlike the previous formulation, the new FluMist can be conveniently stored in a standard refrigerator rather than kept frozen. Now the vaccine can be administered in places like schools, pharmacies and grocery stores and the biotechnology company hopes this will enhance application and access for healthy children and adults ages 5 to 49 years old.
The newly approved formulation of FluMist, known in clinical studies as ‘cold-adapted influenza vaccine-trivalent or CAIV-T, will be in the market come August 2007, in time for the 2007-2008 flu season.
