Fevers suck

Realistically, fevers aren’t always a bad thing. When your body gets sick, it raises its core temperature to fight off the germs. Fevers are useful, even if they’re uncomfortable.
But they suck when they strike your five year old. She’s definitely sick. I ended up calling the school at midnight last night to leave a message saying she wouldn’t be in today (so I wouldn’t have to get up and call early this morning). She woke up at about 11 pm and just couldn’t go back to sleep because of her fever (and it was an hour too soon for any more medication). Today she alternated between moments of feeling okay and stretches of feeling totally miserable.
She succumbed to sleep tonight, lulled by her medication (may cause drowsiness) and exhaustion over not getting back to sleep until about 1 am last night. Still, I’m not so sure she’ll be going in to school tomorrow. I hate to have her miss three days in a row when she just had a whole week off but I can’t send her if she’s feeling the same way as she did today.
I hate when my kids get sick, it’s not fair for these tiny people to feel like such utter crap.
