File Cabinets Are Soooooooo Boring

Although I prefer my good old wooden cabinet maybe you’re sick and tired of ordinary. Here are some ideas… oddly mostly in black, which I did not plan. Sorry folks who don’t love black.
Triple File Cabinet – those are not little drawers, it’s a real file cabinet. But you could use it to double as a side table in a room.

Or read this File Cabinet Tutorial, and learn how to make something like…

All are better than plain old blah office color traditional.

These incredible storage solutions support three (probably more) trends being observed:
1) people want qualitative solutions in all aspects of their home
2) the “boundaries” that used to delineate “public” and “private” zones in a home are blurring… storage like this is something people would want to show to their friends
3) effective home officing (homework, interneting, etc.) is a recognized “must have” in current home designs
Very cool…. good find.
Those are the most beautiful filing cabinets I have ever seen. Just looking at them would make me want to file. (Almost)
I watched the tutorial and it was very good. It got me to thinking, mod podging favorite pictures from magazines and then putting a couple of coats of polyurathane over the pictures should work well too. I have covered several suitcases and they have held up well as end tables and decorative pieces, so I think it might work for this project too. I just might try it. I always glue down a back ground first and then put pictures on top so there is never any ‘holes’ in it.
Jon, I agree. Especially with number 2 – I think people want a flow from task to task, something that merges all aspects of home life together.
Marilyn – that is an excellent plan for the magazines – that’s true reuse. Using a magazine twice is always smart. Your idea might make a cool coffee table too.
