Finding The Joy In Physical Activity

Some people would be surprise about this fact about me but I actually like all the physical activity during work-out. For months I’ve had a hard time having that motivation to “move”. And that’s what was lacking in me. I had an epiphany last week about it. I was so caught up in the idea of losing weight that I lost the joy that moving around brought me. I’ve been a dancer since I was 3 yrs. old so it’s not strange for me to have that feeling within me. I remember the day my Mom came home with my first pink ballet flats. Oh man was I the happiest kid in the neighborhood. I wanted that happiness again. If I let laziness invade my body, I’d never find the motivation to move. But when I fight it, and finally in the middle of exercising, I love it. I love dancing. I love doing kick-boxing. I love doing the weights and triceps. I love the squats and the abdominal crunches. With that realization, my goal took a whole new meaning. I had to stop thinking of dress and jeans sizes. I stopped thinking about going back to my pre-pre-pregnancy weight. Well for a minute
.
I don’t know if I’m making any sense here but I really felt I needed to find the joy in physical activity again as part of my motivation. And I’m happy to report that I did find that joy. This week is soooo much better. Before Monday even rolled in, my mind set was different from last week. I’ve been doing my Tae-Bo sessions and an hour and a half ago, I finished my hardcore routine(refer to the 12pm workout). Wheww, it kicked my ass but damn I feel good.
I will work harder to keep this up and hopefully I will also find the joy in eating less. Soon.

That’s awesome! Good job! I love feeling the joy of working out. I usually don’t enjoy it until I start it. Before I start I sometimes dread it. But the more I do it, the more I love it
I really think that the great feeling you get during exercise and after, is what keeps me going. I have found that exercise first thing in the morning before breakfast is the best – makes you feel great for the entire day, plus it’s all done so no need to make time for it later! It’s one of my ‘good’ habits!
Good for you – that’s a wonderful, healthy attitude toward weight loss. Losing weight and getting in shape can actually be fun!
And eating less can be enjoyable too – sometimes it’s hard, but when I eat less, I feel lighter and calmer. And I get a rush of happiness every time I realize my clothes fit better, so it’s reinforcing a great cycle.
