Five Things to Do After Easter

Easter is over for another year. Now it is time to move on to Mother’s Day, right? Well, while the stores are hurtling ahead, I’m not quite done with Easter. These are a few things I like to do after the Easter holiday:

- Sort and organize all the decorations. It isn’t as much work as the after Christmas clean up, but it still needs to be done. I toss anything that is worn or broken and add replacement items to my shopping list.
- Head to Target to shop the 50% and 75% off sales. I love picking up Easter baskets, artificial eggs and other items for next Easter. I also pick up Spring things that I can use right through summertime, like pretty kitchen towels. A few items may also be suitable for Christmas stockings.
- Decide whether I’ll use the rest of the ham. If not, I get out the food sealer and freeze some of the ham for later use.
- Check Walgreens, CVS, or other local pharmacies for reduced items. These stores usually are heavy on candy and stuffed toy clearance items, but I can sometimes find a few Easter baskets.
- Look at this year’s Easter baskets to see if they should be saved for next year, re-purposed, or discarded. We used two nice rectangular cloth ones for bureau organizers for the kids and I broke the handles off another one to use for book storage. Eliza suggested several other uses for this year’s Easter baskets.
