Five Tips for Choosing Books for Ages 0-2
Infants and toddlers are notoriously hard on toys and books. They can also be quite picky about what you present them. I know my son (who is five) goes through phases wherein he only wants firetrucks or trains and he won’t have anything else but that.
Here are Five Tips to choosing books for your 0-2 year old.
1. Select sturdy board books or felt books that will withstand throwing, pulling, and messes. Felt books can be washed and board books and vinyl books can be wiped clean.
2. Have a variety of books on hand that represent encompass your child’s interests.
3. Make sure that you can hold his or her attention so keep the books short and sweet at this age.
4. Don’t forget to add concepts like colors, numbers, and letters even at this age. Books like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom starts little ones with the alphabet early on.
5. Don’t forget action, pictures, repetition, and rhyme.
