The clean-shaven Boca Raton man marked both his 46th birthday and his 190th arrest in Florida. This time for carjacking, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
The repeat offenders mother said her son has struggled with severe mental illness since his teens. She said he is diagnosed with bipolar, once known as manic depression, a mental illness that causes people to swing between severe depression and extreme highs.
She pleaded on the courts and authorities that they keep this in mind and stated she has been dealing with this since he was 14 and that it is almost impossible to get him the help he needs.
Rather than allowing him to become a frequent flier in the court and penal systems, why is it so difficult to get these people the help they need to become more productive members of society?
Obviously the man has problems, it just seems the answer might be so simple – rather than turning him loose to stay ill – why not give him a taste of clearer thinking while in custody? It might be the addiction he needs.
Just sayin’
