Food Resolutions for the New Year
Here we are, another brand new year. Naturally, lots of people are making resolutions, and many of those resolutions have to do with food and eating. Losing weight tops a lot of lists, as does getting healthier. One’s food intake obviously has a lot to do with these goals.
Healthy eating is one of my personal priorities, and the first of the year seems like a great time to reflect about what I’m doing well, and what I could be doing better. Here are 3 resolutions I’m making for 2008:
-
Eat fruit every day. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a hard time eating enough fruit. Although I was making progress, two months of traveling at the end of 2007 totally disrupted my new habit.
-
Eat less cheese, and pay more attention to the kind of cheese I eat. Although cheese can provide some great nutrients (and can be insanely delicious), it’s also very dense in saturated fat and calories. Plus some of it comes from factory-farmed cows, which is not such a good thing. So I’d like to educate myself more about where the various cheeses I eat come from, and make more informed choices.
-
Try at least one new recipe a month. I’m usually an improv-style chef, but trying new recipes helps to broaden my repertoire.
Do you have any food-related resolutions for 2008?
