OK. I don’t really know who Paul Bosvelt is but apparently he’s going to miss the final UEFA Cup group stage match between SC Heerenveen and RC Lens. I think I should know more because I’m married to a soccer (football) NUT, but I don’t. What I found interesting was that the 36-year-old is suffering from pericarditis which is causing him pain.
Normally the pericardium is smooth but at the moment it is rough because of the inflammation, which causes a lot of pain and keeps me awake at night. My pulse cannot go above 140 which is why I am wearing a heart-rate monitor. I can ride a bike to keep me fit until the problem is solved, but I won’t force it as I am eager to get some sleep at night.
Definitely sounds like soccer is out of the question now. The American Heart Association says that acute inflammatory pericarditis usually lasts one to three weeks and doesn’t cause residual problems. Hope that’s the case for Paul Bosvelt! It can’t be easy to experience health problems when you’re a world class athlete used to be in top physical condition.
