For fairness, a home birth that didn’t go well

I believe that a woman should have a choice regarding where and how she gives birth, as long as neither her or the baby’s health or well-being are at risk. There are many times when a woman wants to give birth at home but it’s not advised because of previous history or problems during pregnancy.
Most midwives are wonderful professionals who studied and work hard to help women through their pregnancies and deliveries, with the goal of having a birth process that the mother wanted. However, like all professions, there are some bad apples. The story I’m about to share isn’t a slam on home births, nor is it a slam on midwives. My intent is to show how important it is that you choose your midwife with care and you know as much about your body as you can before making any decisions that could prove very costly.
Dr. John Crippen writes a blog called NHS Blog Doctor. There are interesting posts there and he doesn’t hold back on his opinion. Here is a post on problems that happen when midwives may step beyond their capabilities: The home birth lunacy continues.
