For Sam, wherever you are

Samuel Becker-Boehkle has been missing since October 14th. He is 8 year old; he has autism. He was hiking with his father, Ken Boehkle, near Crater Lake’s North Rim when he went missing. Rescue efforts were “complicated” not only by cold weather and difficult terrain, but also because “loud noises, bright lights and strangers” are all things that Sam ran away from, as reported in November 19th’s NWCN.com. Rescue personnel—some 250 in all, from Oregon, Washington, and California—were unable to shout or shine bright lights to help find Sam. The search will resume in the later summer, it is hoped, “when the Crater Lake National Park’s massive 20-30 foot snow levels clear.”
A memorial service will be held for Sam next Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland.
We are thinking of you, Sam, and of those who love and will remember you.

The army national guard could have been called upon to do an infrared search.
