Former Yellow Wiggle Greg Page update

January 5, 2008 by Elizabeth

Greg Wiggle formerly of The WigglesThis site gets quite a few searches for “Greg Page Wiggles sick” or “yellow Wiggle sick”, and, I guess it can be classified as “career and kids” because he’s a working parent, and, many a Wiggles DVD has allowed working parents to get a little work done with kids at home.

According to this interview, it looks like the former Yellow Wiggle, who had to leave the popular children’s group due to a medical condition, is doing better.

Just thought you might want to know.

OK, I’ll bite. What the hell is a Wiggle? Or am I better off not knowing?

  2. I have to admit, I have periodically wondered how Greg is doing. Even though my son is beyond the Wiggles phase, I have a certain fondness for the Wiggles since, as you said, they often gave me a break when I needed it. Thanks for the update!

  3. Mom2Wigglykids says:

Thanks for the update. I have to admit I don’t enjoy the Wiggles as much with Sam. I am glad that Greg is doing better and hope he continues on a road to good health. I am hoping he puts out another adult album.

    Thanks again…
    Q.

I love the wiggles. I have babyat with 3 grandchildren for 7 years now and we run the Wiggles dvd’s constantly. I really miss Greg I fell he was the core of the show. Sam seems to be doing a fine job, but it will take some time to get use to him. Greg was an overpowering personality and really made the group

I do not see an answer to the first question posted here. They are a children’s singing group! Although I have never seen them, our son has something in common with Greg…dysautonomia! HIs is extremely severe, so he has hope that someone in “show bus.” might somehow be able to raise more of an awareness of this. Thanks for your work in keeping us updated. My son wants to know how he is often. I finally looked this up (on “goodsearch.com” to benefit DYNA, a support group for dysautonomia). Is Greg reaching out in any way to help raise awareness, or is he not able at this time?

  9. Karen says:

I am 11 but My sister who is 2 watches the wiggles and It’s not the same without Greg…..

  10. Teri says:

I definitely agree that Greg added a special magic to The Wiggles that no one will ever be able to duplicate. Greg did a magazine interview in June, and also did a radio interview around the same time. It was wonderful to hear his voice again, and there were quite a few new pictures in the article. Greg says he is at about 80 to 85% now, and is recording a new solo CD, and as he gets even better, plans to perform live again. On his website gregpage.com, Greg posted a message about the last year and a half of his life, and how he is now coming out of the nightmare he has endured.
Joe, here is the answer to your question about Greg raising awareness for this condition: Greg has help establish with seed funding an important research project. The Greg Page Fund for Orthostatic Intolerance raises money to support research into this debilitating condition. 100% of funds raised go direct to the research conducted by the Baker Heart Institute – Greg Page does not receive any portion of, or commission, from your donation. Greg is extremely proud to be able to lend his name to this fund in order to assist in promoting awareness of this condition which affects sufferers all over the world. He hopes that by lending his name, he will be able to bring greater attention to this condition and how it affects people, but also help to raise funds which will help researchers better understand the condition and help to treat it more effectively. Please help the Baker Heart Institute with their research into O.I. and Dysautonomia. The above information has been copied from Greg’s website. Please visit it if you wish to donate, or if you wish to read more about Greg and this condition.

  11. MARLENE CUPPY says:

GREG – THE WORLD MISSES YOU ON THE WIGGLES. HAVE BEEN WATCHING FOR NEWS THAT PERHAPS YOU WERE RECOVERING AND COULD PERFORM A LITTLE IN THE FUTURE. I KEEP WATCHING FOR TAPES THAT I HAVE MISSED SO THE CHILDREN I BABYSIT CAN SEE YOU TOO. THE WORLD PRAYS FOR YOUR RECOVERY. GOD BLESS.

  12. Beverly Reynolds says:

Where can I buy Greg’s solo cds?

  13. Teri says:

Greg has five solo CDS, but only two – and about one half of another – are available at this time (on his website) due to copyright issues. He hopes to resolve this at some point. You can download the songs individually, or the entire CD, at his website http://www.gregpage.com. His last CD “Taking Care Of Country” can be purchased at Amazon or Target.
He is currently finishing a follow up Cd to the “Country” CD, but no release date has been set.
There are three titles under a “coming soon” section on his website, and it is hoped that these
refer to DVDS of his solo concerts in Las Vegas and Nashville.

You can occasionally find Greg’s CDS on ebay, but they go for a lot of money. I’ve seen them range from $150.00 to over $300.00. In fact, a CD on which Greg only sang back up was sold a few days ago for $208.00. A program book from his Vegas concerts was auctioned for $320.00 last month. Someone is certainly making a profit off Greg.

On July 22, Greg did his first T.V. interview since he retired. It was so good to finally see, and hear him, after all this time. If anyone is interested, it can be found at http://9am.ten.com.au go to the video section and put Greg Page in the search bar to bring up the video.

Hope this helps. Greg’s voice is one-of-a-kind, and I am so happy that I have all of his CDS, and that I was lucky enough to purchase them from him years ago. They are fabulous!!

  14. Julia Adelman says:

I miss and think about Greg Page Wiggle everyday. My 2-year-old grand nephew watches him daily several times a day. Our DVR is full of the Wiggles show, and we’ve even bought the DVDs so he can watch at the day care. I hope Greg is well. But we’ve got tickets to the Wiggles concert next Wednesday, and needless to say, the yellow Wiggle, Greg Wiggle will be missed.

  15. BEAR says:

i have a 2-1/2 yr old that i took to see the wiggles yesterday 11/20/08 in orlando florida. she loved the show. we had heard that greg was sick but did not relize that he had quit the wiggles. it was strange seeing same for the 1st time but he did a great job.

  16. Teri says:

Here’s a recent Greg update: Greg hosted a tourism awards ceremony in late July 2008, and sang in public for the first time since August 2006. The article said he wowed the crowd, and after repeated pleas, sang a couple of Wiggles songs. In October he sang three songs (among them was Burning Love) at a gala to raise funds for O.I. research. He was part of a celebrity team playing a cricket match in Sydney November 2. Mid-November he was a guest on the tv program This Is Your Life which was honoring a popular Aussie cricket player. He was the host of the Melbourne Christmas tree
lighting ceremony in November. He did his second tv interview on November 17, and there have been 2 expansive newspaper articles published since then. On November 22, he was the host at a party that was a fund raiser for O.I. research. Greg says he has returned to a much more normal way of life. He said that life is what you make of it, and he is determined to have a good one. He hopes that possibly in about six months time he may be able to return to singing in clubs. Greg misses The Wiggles “incredibly” and he feels he has a hole in his life without them, but he knows at this point he could not return, and does not know if his health will ever get to the point where he could.

  17. Linda says:

I hope Greg feels the love pouring his way from the children, parents and grandparents world-wide he has touched over the years. We all miss that sweet man. I am so relieved to hear that he is feeling better. Our hearts and prayers are with you, Greg.

  18. Kevin says:

My daughter is 20 months and has been a wiggles fan for most of her short life. Now that playhouse Disney is showing the the Sam wiggles everytimr the show gets going she’s asked to “watch wiggles daddy watch wiggles” proof positive that this show is no longer the dearly beloved wiggles but a reprocessed digitally enhanced shade of it’s former self. So greg my daughter begs you to return.

  19. Kevin says:

That shouldve said shadow not shade my iPhone is kinda screwy can you please change it moderator

    Thanks

  20. Sheela says:

I have 2 daughters. Eldest is 9 now and she used to love Wiggles when she was 2… Youngest is now 1 and half and she loves to watch the Wiggles tapes and DVD and follows the wiggles on Disney every morning at 10 am. Past 2 weeks Disney’s new Wiggle and Learn comes on without Greg and it is not the same… We miss Greg in The Wiggles and great to know that he is getting better.

  21. LNT says:

Do you have any updates on his personal life? I read he and his wife are divorced?

  22. DMD says:

….. the original songs. BRING BACK the pirate dancers, the Little Wiggles, the scenes on the beach, the multicultural dances, and the fun upbeat spirit the show used to have. I love Disney and don’t feel it’s their fault. I also don’t think it’s Greg’s fault either. I just think the show tried to change too much too soon.

  23. BRIGIT says:

I’ve been wondering about Greg and hope he’s doing better. You know im 40 and I still sing his songs at work, cause it is so contagious and fun and my daughter also wonders about him to and she says that they are giving the show at 1:00am witch I think is very wrong. There are some young ones that still have to see the wiggles and know who they are.

  24. Amy says:

My daughter who is 5 still loves the Wiggles and very much misses Greg. Maybe he could come back for a vist she say’s like her family and friends do.

  25. Jeane says:

I don’t see why they can’t work around some of the difficulties that Greg may have and keep Sam he could still add to the shows and show kids even if you have health problems you can still be productive in society they can do things with him sitting and interacting with the others and the children the show just isn’t the same without him

  26. Erica says:

My 22 month old son, who only has a few words, looks at me now everytime Sam is performing and says “Greg?” with a confused look. I didn’t even know he knew their names. He obviously wants Greg back and they are not playing anymore of the Greg Wiggle episodes on Playhouse Disney. Does anyone know how I can get past episodes with Greg? Any dvd recommendations? Will Playhouse Disney ever repeat the episodes with Greg? It is not the same and my son does not have the sparkle and smile that he used to have while watching the Wiggles.

  27. Teri says:

Sad to say, but your message is one I have seen in many blogs and forums around the internet: children quickly lose interest and walk away from the new shows and DVDS; they no longer sing and dance like they used to: and they notice Greg is missing and want him back – contrary to the belief of some who said many children were too naive and would never notice that he was not there. The Wiggles were once again the top earning celebrities in Australia for last year, but according to BRW magazine, this is based on the money from their back catalog which means CDS and DVDS featuring Greg. I agree that there was a haste to bring about all kinds of changes, probably in the hope it would divert attention away from the fact that Greg was missing. I think it is a wrong direction, and they are straying too far from the core beliefs they learned at university in early childhood education. It’s not Greg’s fault since he very reluctantly gave up his skivvy after struggling for more than three years with a rapidly developing condition. It’s not Disney’s fault either, and they in fact refused to air the new shows for more than two years. I don’t know if Disney still has access to the older shows, but if they do, we can only hope they will air them once more. If you can find a way to contact Disney, you could let them know your opinion, and that might be of some help. As for the shows with Greg, here is the information: five t.v. series were made with Greg from 1998 to 2006. Series 1, 2, and 3 are available on DVD, but have to be ordered from Australia, and you need a regions free DVD player for them since they are region 4 and the U.S. is region 1. I recently ordered all three sets, and it wasn’t really costly, and didn’t take very long to receive them. For some reason, they have only released these sets in Australia, and that is why you have to do this in order to have them. The older shows that were on Disney most recently are from series 4 & 5, and a lot of that material is taken from these DVDS: Here Comes The Big Red Car, Wiggle Around The Clock, and Splish Splash Big Red Boat. You can also find many of series 3 Lights Camera Action as a special bonus on many of the regular DVDS. Younger children may also enjoy these DVDS as they are older and have a much simpler tone to them: Yummy Yummy (but watch out for the puppets, some kids don’t like them) Wiggle Time, and Wiggly Play Time which is actually just four t.v. episodes from 1998. If anyone is interested in concert format, there is Wiggledancing! and Live Hot Potatoes. Both of them have great bonus features “On The Road With The Wiggles” which is a behind the scenes look, and “Celebrating Fifteen Years Of Wiggly Fun” which is a short history of The Wiggles. I also highly recommend the three Christmas DVDS and CDS which feature both fun, and traditional songs. It is definitely not the same any more, and I don’t think it will ever be again. I’ve heard they may be trying to move away from the direction taken the last two years, and get back to the more familiar, but I think the basic problem is they need Greg’s charisma and creativeness. It’s a shame he was forced to give up something he loved so much, and it’s a shame fans of all ages don’t have the original Wiggles any more.

  28. Jeane says:

There should be a way for people to contact Dusney and let them know how we al feel about Greg and his forced retirement what about the people with disabilities act? Are they showing kids that just because you have limitations you can’t do what your job requires? He could still be a very active part in the show maybe just not dancing and jumping BUT can still be productive The show is not very good any more At least with Greg the parents could enjoy watching it with their children or in my case grandchildren

  29. Cathy Combs says:

I believe that Greg should be given the chance to come back to the show. The Wiggles will never be the same without him. Maybe, he wouldn’t be able to dance and sing like he used to. But, he could sing and play the guitar sitting down. Sam could do all of the dancing. If Greg had a good day and wanted to dance then he could. I think that Disney should give him another chance. Greg we miss and need you . May God’s speed help you to feel better with each and every day. I wish you the best with all things in your life. Someday I would love to meet you in person. You have such a beautiful smile and gorgeous eyes. You are a generalize person donating your collection of Elvis to The Parkes for all the world to see.

  30. Hannah says:

Im glad he is doing better…Its not the same with Sam. I work with a child who loves the Wiggles…he wont watch anything else but the Wiggles!

  31. Becky says:

My kids are watching the Yummy Yummy Wiggles DVD as I’m writing this. We’ve tried watching the new Wiggles, but Greg was “THE MAN”. I don’t like the new format that the new Wiggles show on Disney has taken. I’m guessing thats why they pulled them from the 7 am East Coast time (USA) and pushed them to later in the morning, when honestly, the TV is off by then. I would love to hear Greg put out his own children’s music. He has such a nice soothing voice!!!

  32. Erica says:

Teri, thanks for all of the wonderful info you have provided about Greg and the dvds. I watched his interview and I pray that he will overcome his medical condition. I could not figure out how to contact Playhouse Disney so if anyone knows please post a phone number or email address. I would love to see some repeat Wiggle episodes with Greg in it.

  33. Chelz says:

My son who is now 14 was introduced to the Wiggles back in 1998-1999 while we were living in Australia. We rapidly fell in love with the characters and the performers. I really loved the format of the show back then. In my opinion the show turned downhill when they first signed on with Disney. When we returned to the states and I happened to put the show on, I was not impressed. They allowed Disney to Americanize the show too much and it lost a lot if it’s magic.

  34. fontea richardson says:

Hi we are all glad to hear greg is doing well.I also baby sit my grand children they have me hooked to the show.DVD after DVD .Its great to see how much the children love the Wiggles and the Wiggles love to do what they do best making us all laugh. Will the Wiggles come to Ballarat Victoria? we hope so. Take care all the Wiggles.

  35. jade says:

greg. I love the wiggles I hope you feel better. Signed, your biggest fan Jade

  36. Shell Coburn says:

Hi, I too have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome – what my hubby and I have termed “Yellow Wiggles Disease” since the day I was diagnosed around 12 months ago.
I would give just about anything to NOT have it.

  38. Teri says:

UPDATE: At the end of December, Greg was interviewed on the Australian “A Current Affair.” Talking about his love for entertaining children, and seeing their smiling faces, he said “It is a dream come true – it was a dream come true – for me the dream has ended.” He said his illness has made him a lot more grateful for life in general, and that it’s made him appreciate the adversities that other people are dealt in life. After Graceland, Greg is the third largest collector of Elvis memorabilia, and in January he donated his collection for a museum to be located in Parkes, Australia. He even paid for security, insurance and transportation cost from Sydney to Parkes, and traveled there to help unpack and set up the displays. In March, Greg reviewed funds generated from door takings thus far, and decided to divide the majority of the proceeds between a Parkes hospital and the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. If anyone wants to contact Disney about their t.v. schedule, these are the addresses I was given: richross@disney.com and
robert.a.iger@disney.com The Wiggles T.V. Series 1 Collectors Box Set, The Wiggles Wiggly T.V. Series 2, and The Wiggles T.V. Series 3 Lights Camera Action are still only available in Australia (these are the complete collection of all the older Wiggles shows) but can be ordered from http://www.ABC.net.au They are in the ABC shop section (search The Wiggles) but you do need a regions free DVD player to watch them. If anyone wants to see recent pictures of Greg taken from June to December 2008, there is a good video on youtube in honor of Greg called Greg Page – A Hero Lies In You
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15okr6y5vBI

  39. Teri says:

Update About The Older Wiggles t.v. Series: Erica, Becky, Jeane, Sheela, and Kevin (sorry if I left any names out) plus any others who may be interested and ask about the older t.v. shows with Greg:

“The Sprout TV network will be boasting lots of Wiggle room starting this summer, when it welcomes the Wiggles to its lineup.

This Australian-bred musical group, recognized as the world’s No. 1 preschool entertainment act, will join Sprout on Aug. 24, the network announced Thursday. Sprout, aimed at kids age 2 to 5, will air episodes from the six seasons of “The Wiggles” series throughout its daily schedule.

The Wiggles also will be featured on Sprout’s on-demand and Web platforms. Sprout has exclusive U.S. rights to Wiggles content, both existing and new, Wax said. The group ends their seven-year stay at Disney Channel in June.”

If you have access to the Sprout t.v. network, this is the opportunity to see all the older shows again. Considering that Greg made five of the six series that exist, this will be a good chance to see a lot of him. It seems sad to see their association with Disney end. The shows debuted in mid 2002, and really introduced The Wiggles to America. The series made with Greg played for six and a half of those years, with the news shows broadcast for six months December 2008 thru May 2009.

  40. landon says:
