Fosamax, osteoporosis drug, may cause heart problem

If you have osteoporosis, you may be taking a drug called Fosamax (alendronate) to help strengthen your bones. While the medication has been very successful for many women, researchers are now finding that this success may be coming at a price.

According to an article published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, women who have taken Fosamax are nearly twice as likely to develop atrial fibrillation, chronically irregular heartbeat, than are those who have never used taken it.
