Freaky Friday #105

Today is Friday and that means it’s Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.

What Might Have Been?

After yesterday’s incident, where my little boy fractured his leg, my husband has been saying things that might have been, and if only we had or hadn’t done this or that thing. The whole topic leads me to wonder if we really can control these things. If he’d left the park earlier, or not put his son on the swing perhaps something else may have happened instead. We can’t know if it would or not.

In the same vein as this spend some time writing in your journal about the things you would have changed if you could have had control; those accidents and the little events that led to bigger things. Think seriously about the long term outcome of these moments. Would changing them alter other things in your life that you do enjoy now? It might be better to select one event and write about that until you have exhausted all possibilities. Or select events that are linked through one major event or the first link in the chain.

I hope you enjoy this journal writing challenge. Please share in the comments section below any comments you have.

  1. Cherie says:

My personal belief is that if you changed one thing in your life, a million other things would be changed as a result. You’d end up changing many of the wonderful things that have happened just by trying to change the one bad thing that happened.

  2. Hi Cherie,
Yes, I tend to agree we’d actually be horrified, by making just one change, of the way things would be so, so different. Thanks for your comment. ;-)
