Freaky Friday #133

Today is Friday and that means it’s Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.
While reading Jennifer Louden’s blog I was struck with the power of the word comfort. Fear could be seen as opposite to comfort, and everything I read on Louden’s blog seems to agree. Spend some time writing in your journal first as if you are comfort and then as if you are fear. Allow the two emotions to hold a dialogue if you feel brave enough to do so. Hold your own dialogue with each of these emotions, too.
I hope you enjoy this journal writing challenge. Please leave any comments in the section below.

I find the perspective of this exercise highly interesting. Personally I feel that fearful people find their fear to be quite comforting as submitting to it makes them feel safe and secure. Therefore it leads me to wonder how comfort can be the opposite of fear. Support may be a potent tool in helping someone through their fear. However, I don’t think I can count it as it’s polar opposite. Some would say that courage is the opposite of fear as it’s the only thing that can defeat it. Though I think security is the real opposite seeing as how fear stems from insecurity. Courage may help a person to face a fearful issue. But if they hold onto the insecurity that seeded the fear in the first place then they ultimately might just be repressing their fear instead of ridding themselves of it.
Keep up the awesome work
Hi Toddmen,
I am, indeed, fascinated with your response. It’s that kind of deep thinking I love to know these journal challenges inspire. I’m sure you were able to use this entry for at least one solid journal writing session. Thanks for your response.
