Freaky Friday #71

Today is Friday, which means it is also Freaky Friday. If you need to know more about this journal writing challenge please read the First Freaky Friday entry.

Last night I watched the film Man About Town. It wasn’t one of the best movies I’ve ever seen, but I was interested in the journal writing aspects of the film. If you’ve seen it you’ll know what I mean. John Cleese’s character, the teacher, has a thing for correct spelling. I know this has place in published writing, but I disagree anyone needs to spell correctly in their own journal. I feel it gives a sense of freedom to not follow those rules.

That was just something I wanted to point out, but has nothing to do with this journal writing exercise. In the film the character played by Ben Affleck has his journal stolen. Write an entry on how you would feel if this happened to you. Does your journal contain secrets you don’t want others to know? After you’ve written your reaction & emotions over having your personal thoughts read by another spend some time writing as if you are the journal stealer. Why did you steal the journal? What secrets are revealed? How do these secrets make you feel?

Ok, this is completely fictional, but the point of these exercises is to change your perspective. Writing this fictional account will help you see your writing and life from another viewpoint. I hope you enjoy this journal writing challenge.
