Got weekend plans? Looking for a good bargain?
eHarmony is having a free communication weekend, this weekend 8/29/08-9/01/08. To find out more about the free weekend, click on eHarmony – User Registration. Take the time to fill out the questions carefully. Answer as honestly as possible, how you really feel, not how you think you should feel. They are no wrong answers.
Of the friends that I spoke with, eHarmony had the best record, with 2 serious relationships and 1 marriage out of 5 friends. Three out of five with good results? Sounds like it’s worth a try to me.
Are you going to take advantage of eHarmony’s free communication weekend?

They’ve been doing these free weekend things a lot lately… it’s cool in a way, but sucky for those of us who are paid subscribers, because we get matched up with them and then they communicate through like stage 1 or 2 and we lose them because the weekend’s over.
Just a suggestion if you’re going to really make good use of the free weekend – request “Fast Track” communication with people so you can at least get right to the one-on-one conversation and decide from there to exchange email addresses or IM usernames or what have you before your free communication weekend time runs out on you. It really sucks to get through some questions and like what you read and then *POOF!*
Great advice, Lara. Thanks!
Does anyone else have any friends with success stories from eharmony? Just trying to see my options my girlfriends have been telling me to try Great Expectations or Eharmony?? I need a push in the right direction … HELP!
Hi Rynn, I really think you should try several dating networks. Everyone is different, and what might have worked for someone else may not work for you. So jump in there and start off with eHarmony, Great Expectations or maybe just a friend of a friend. The best of luck in your search.
Sometimes you get the good, other times you get the bad… sometimes you sign up for something that’s “free to look” and you find that there are 3 guys within a 60 mile radius on it, and other times not even that much.
I will say that you should stick to the top ones… PoF.com, Yahoo Personals, Match.com, and eHarmony (which is most expensive of all) if you’re looking for long term mostly. PoF is even a stretch for that – and isn’t easy to find guys who want to be serious there, but they’re there. Funny, seems the more money one’s willing to spend, the more serious about LTRs they seem to be.
Join a couple first, see how they go for you, and then join more if you want. Often you’ll see the same guys across multiple sites, so why can’t girls do it?
Natalie, thanks for the input.
Rynn, the friends that I’ve spoken with have had very good luck with eHarmony. I’m not sure if it’s the way they match people up or if it has to do with the cost – the men they meet there are actually looking for a date and not a penpal.
I would also try the places that Lara mentions above. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
Thanks everyone for your advice!!! I really appreciate it. I decided to jump in there, and I signed up for eHarmony – Match.com – Great Expectations. I have had some dating success, and some flops. Flops happen in the traditional world of dating all the time so I can’t complain. I’m actually really enjoying Great Expectations my g/f is also a member, and they have events every week we go together so it makes the process easier. It is a tad pricey though :/
Rynn, we are at the tale end of a free few days at chemistry.com, if you are interested in looking there as well. I have a link to the promo in this post http://www.datingdames.com/free-membership-at-chemistrycom/
