Fruit for Sale

good for you

I have the hardest time maintaining a balanced diet. Mostly because in the past I have been too busy to cook properly. However, the one thing that can be counted on is that I will always eat enough servings of fruit. Whether fresh or frozen, there is always a lot of fruit on hand. The picture above, is what I currently have in my fruit bowl (which does double duty as a colander). It’s accurate, I snapped the pic 20 minutes ago.

I am sure you all know the benefits that come in a piece of fruit.

  • Fruits contribute vitamins and fiber to your diet
  • nectarines, bananas, mangoes, and melon are sources of carotene (vitamin A)
  • citrus fruit (and juice), berries, kiwi and melon provide vitamin C
  • dried fruits and bananas are great sources of iron and potassium
  • loads of magnesium can be found in fruit (for more info on magnesium click here)
  • bananas are a well known serotonin booster

Did you know:

  • That grapes are the leading fruit crop in the world. But that 57% of those grapes end up in your wine glass.
  • Americans eat more bananas than any other fruit
  • There are 7500 varieties of apples

By the way fruits are perishable, and so most of them should be kept refrigerated. Eating properly will help prevent a CFS crash.

Roadside fruit stands are going to start popping up all over the place (if they haven’t already), great deals are to be found at these little make shift stands. And the fruit and veggies that you can get here, are going to be a lot more fresh, than what you will find at your supermarket. Go for a little drive and check a few out.

Now, if I could just balance out the rest of my diet, I would be set!
