Fun Friday: Talking Pets

My pets did not like it when I played this video! I don’t know what they think they’re hearing, or if they just suspected we had brought home yet another four-legged family member, but there was some snuffling and growling going on down at my feet.

The video is a compilation of various other videos on Youtube and showcases “talking” pets. More often than not it’s just a case of people hearing what they want to hear, or associating random sounds (usually intense agitation!) with words that sound familiar to them. In others you think “ok, I can see how they’d hear that,” and then the rest just leaving you going “what..??”

Only one of our cats will respond to us when we get them to “talk.” Sage has a thing for fresh water, and over the last few years when my husband fills up a cup at the refrigerator for the cat dish, he’ll say “water? water?” Sage will make a loud “wahr-wahr” sound as she waits patiently at the dish. But then, maybe she’s not so much mimicking as she is telling him to hurry up already!
