Fun plans to halt the boredom

For two straight days we’ve been stuck inside. On Tuesday I babysat my friend’s baby, which was wonderful, and today we were housebound due to a large storm (ice pellets followed by a ton of snow). As a result, the kids haven’t had a good physical outlet for awhile. I do let them play and have fun but we’re also on the 4th floor so I can’t just let them jump for an hour straight, no matter how tempting that is.

Because of this there has been a mix of some very cute play time (my oldest was playing on the PBS Kids website and found the Boobah game. They make noises that sound like, er, farting, and let’s just say gas is always a riot around here, so both kids were crying from laughing at the game) and some very irritating squabbling.

Which is why I’m glad the storm is over and tomorrow is supposed to be quite nice. We’re calling a family day and heading to a large park that rents inner tubes for $3 each for the whole day. That basically means it will cost us all of six bucks since we will double up on the tubes, and parking is free with our city card. Pretty cheap for a lot of fun! (Actually, the hot chocolate will probably be the most expensive part.)

I’m looking forward to going. I know the kids will have a lot of fun and it will be so good to let them get out and burn off some energy before they drive me crazy!
