Gail Porter has thrown her support behind the Global Campaign for Education’s (GCE), “My Friend Needs a Teacher” campaign. The effort. working thru UK schoolchildren, is attempting to address the 100 million children worldwide who miss out on school.

From the Community Newswire.

Gail Porter, TV presenter, said: “Last year when I travelled to India with ActionAid I was shocked to see hundreds of children as young as five years-old out working on the streets, robbed of both a childhood and an education.

“As I have a three year-old daughter it made me think even more of what they are missing and what a tragedy it is.

“I think this campaign is great as it not only makes kids here aware of what they’ve got but it also teaches them how to take action and help change the future for their ‘friends’ millions of miles away.”

Other celebrity supporters include Emma Thompson, Joanna Lumley, Angela Griffin, the artist Tracey Emin, Corrie’s Sally Whittaker, Blue Peter’s Konnie Huq, CBBC’s Angellica Bell.
