Genes for Diabetes and Intelligence

I hate when I’ve been scooped but that’s exactly what’s happened to me by my fellow b5media Science and Health channel bloggers.

At Diabetes Notes, Rob reports the identification of the ARNT gene in mice that predisposes them to hyperglycemia and other symptoms of diabetes.

At The Homely Scientist, Tris talks about the dysbindin-1 gene which may be involved in schizophrenia and general cognitive abilities.

If you think you’ve scooped me (and chances are you have), drop me a line at hsien@b5media.com. I and the readers of Genetics and Health thank you in advance!

NB: I stole the pretty DNA pic from Tris too. Wouldn’t that make a really nice necklace or bracelet? Now you know what to get me for my birthday.
