Many providers will prescribe Valtrex prophylactically before baby’s due date to prevent an outbreak. Also, Vitamin C with bioflavonoids may help to prevent outbreaks.

The amino acid L-Lysine, which is pretty inexpensive and readily available in health food stores and pharmacies, is great for suppressing herpes. I always get immediate relief when I take it, preventing outbreaks from going full blown, and causing them to heal more quickly. If they give Valtrex to a pregnant woman, surely an amino acid is much safer.
