Germaphobe Gift

intense_saffron_medium.gifI am not a germaphobe. I keep this identity by avoiding news about germs found in ice cubes at restaurants, on the refrigerator door handle, on the restroom door, or the grocery cart handle.

I feel this is too much information. There is little I can do about it, short of being a Purell addict or avoiding public areas. I already have enough to worry about.

That said, I totally get why the world might be grossing you out if you’re a Purell addict or a germaphobe yourself.

While not a germaphobe I never, ever put my purse on the bathroom floor. It’s sick and wrong.

Anne of Stylagio sent me a handy little “accessory” called a ClipChic so I never have to. I try not to think about germs that might be in a restaurant where I’m eating, but you might have issues about putting your purse on the floor.

I’ll hook you up with this gross piece on ABC News about what kind of funky sick crap (literally) is on your purse – but my advice is don’t read it. You’re saner if you don’t know. If you know, you’ll have issues and you’ll have to buy this purse hook. You could just buy it and take my word that your purse is a haven of icky.

ClipChic are under $20 and come in lots of colors and weigh next to nothing, which is important, because I think we’ve discussed before how a heavy purse is bad news. They’re actually kind of cute and feel good in my hand.

Maybe you know a germaphobe or neurotic Purell junky who can’t live another day without one? They come in a really pretty black bag and gift box.

I totally agree on the usefulness of a purse hanger – but I am not a fan of these round styles. They are designed in a way that won’t let them stay on a table with a beveled edge etc.. because the ‘neck’ is too short. Plus – why would you want the company’s logo on it? Sorry – just my honest opinion.

I highly recommend the more traditional hook design – it fits more tables. My favorite designs are made by Purse-Pal, especially their jeweled flower designs. They are more expensive – but really worth it! Plus they donate to non-profits/charities from each one.

I’m a lot better than I used to be, but I am so cheap that I skip the expensive chlorox wipes for the grocery cart and bring my own bleach cloth from home in a recycled baggy. It’s so very tight wad gazette.

Millions of people wear “brands” with the company logo or name on their purses, jeans, shoes, etc. So it doesn’t seem unusual that they would put the company logo on it.

For sure, it’s a matter of taste. You prefer a different one, that’s cool.

I just put my hands on the grocery cart – and don’t think about the germs. Some germs are good, isn’t that what they keep saying? We need them to keep our immune systems active? So, I just shop. I got a cart cover for the baby as a gift and never took it out of the box.

A neat gadget for the germaphobe or more appropriately the GermAware. You are absolutely right, there is some nasty stuff on bathroom floors and don’t even get me started on faucet and door handles. Check out this site for the latest info for the GermAware: http://www.germaware.com
