Get Excited About Losing Weight

Yesterday was an okay day for me. I could have done a lot better. I confess…yesterday evening I ate 2 Twinkies and 4 Oreos. Yikes! But even after that slip-up, I still lost 3 pounds!

So this morning I’m having a little pep talk with myself. I need to get excited about losing weight again. I need to remember why I want to lose weight and the long-term benefits, not only for me, but my family as well.

If you’re having trouble getting excited about losing weight too, here are some tips that might help you and me!

Look in the mirror and SMILE.
For many, as we gain weight, it gets more and more difficult to look in the mirror. We don’t like what we see, so we avoid mirrors, especially full-length mirrors. We don’t want to see the baggage that hangs around our face, neck, hips, and thighs. Forget about all that today. Stop in front of a mirror, take a good look at yourself and smile. You are beautiful, just as you are. But you’re working on becoming a more beautiful you.

Find your FOCUS.
set weight loss goals Think of your ultimate weight loss goal as a bull’s eye target board. Where you are now is the outer ring. Each mini goal is the next inner ring closest to the center.

Every day you aim and shoot towards that center mark. Each week, you’ll hit an outer ringer, getting closer to the center mark each time. With diligence and perseverance, you will successfully hit that center bull’s eye mark in due time. CAUTION: Don’t expect or attempt to hit the center of the bull’s eye too soon. All good things come in due time. You need lots of practice (changing your eating habits, maintaining focus, exercising often, staying hydrated, etc.)to learn how to aim and shoot that center mark.

Reflect on your progress.
At least once per month, take a look back over the last few weeks. You’ll notice shifts in your attitude about food and healthy living. You’ll see remarkable changes in the way you eat, exercise, and think. More importantly, as more time goes by, you’ll also notice positive changes in your relationships with friends and family. Watch for affirmative benchmarks like saying no to dessert after dinner, making wise choices when dining out, and the desire to exercise.

You are so right about looking back over the past month or so to see your progress and how your sttitude had been! I also slipped up last night and had a pack of hostess cupcakes. They were good, but talk about guilt as soon as I finished them!

  2. Oh girl! You wanna talk about guilt? Read my post from this morning. I suffered from guilt all day long yesterday.

Today is a NEW day, though….THANK GOODNESS! :) Today I’ll do better. :)
