Get Obsessed With Recycling

Some people are obsessed with keeping their clothes arranged by color or by shade or by size. Some people are obsessed with making sure that not one bit of item on her desk stays untouched. Some people are obsessed about eating one dozen apples per day. But for Nancy Hawksley, the University of Rhode Island’s Recycling Facilities’ coordinator, she is calling for people to be obsessed about recycling.

She says, “So many people used to recycle at home when they were younger. Now when they don’t have anyone watching over them, they tend to forget. We just want people to make a conscious effort to do the right thing.”

To further up her aim, she now started a competition which would last for nine weeks and it would be where you can find more than 200 schools from the US competing for the Recyclemania title. She explains, “Last year was our first year, and we basically used it to get an idea of how we can motivate people to participate. It’s always a challenge to get people on board, but we hope to make a good showing.”

I think this is a great idea. I plan to take away some of this information and apply it my work environment. The active approach paired with educating people as to the pros and cons of recycling generates a big outcome.
