Get to Know the Resident Feline

In The Kitty Blog world, you’ll hear me speak of Choco a lot. That means it’s time you got to know him better.
Choco is a five-year-old DSH male tuxedo cat. I adopted him in December 2003 from a no-kill cat haven. He was five months old at the time. And he literally reached out to us.
Michael, my husband, went with me to the cat rescue during lunch one day. We were going to adopt a solid black cat, but Choco had other plans for us. He reached his ultra-cute furry white paw out and grabbed my purse strap from his enclosure.
It was obvious he was playful. We picked him up a few days later after he was neutered and the rescue volunteer said, “He’s a very vocal cat!”
We quickly learned what she meant. Choco talks a lot. Sometimes too much, but I’d rather have that problem than have a cat that hides under the bed all day. He’s a social kitty. Though, I must admit that I’m sometimes relieved when he decides to take a nap.
I’m not quite sure why we didn’t adopt two cats together. That would have been better. Now, Choco is used to being the King of his domain, and he hisses at any other cat he sees through the window.
Perhaps one day I’ll gain the housing space and bravery to introduce another cat. Until then, Choco will entertain me and all of you readers just fine. I hope you enjoy getting to know him better.

Love it – what a cute story. I don’t think I ever heard the total behind the scenes story of Mr. Social. Too fun. I like that he picked you.
Hey Jennifer. I’m glad Choco has a loyal fan already!
