Giant beef recall in the US

February 18, 2008 by Jul

Thanks to undercover videos by the Humane Society which exposed some disgusting behavior in a beef processing plant, the USDA has issued a recall on 143 million pounds of ground beef.

As if I needed another reason to be happy I don’t eat meat.

    Jul ~

I was so grossed-out by this that I almost gagged.

I’ve gone back and forth between being a vegetarian versus being a “carnivore”. Though I’m currently the latter, this type of video makes me want to reclaim my herbivore days!

I should have put a warning on the video!

Keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be as black and white as carnivore and vegan. If you enjoy vegetarian meals, work them into your diet every now and then! You don’t have to swear off all animal products to enjoy the benefits of meat-free meals. And think how happy you’ll be to know you’re avoiding the recalled beef. :)

I’m glad too that I gave up on meat so I no longer contribute to animal suffering. Aside from that, I’m also thinking, what a waste it is. Killing so many animals just to throw the meat away. Sick.
