Give’m a Shot of Good Boy
Earlier today, I was reminded of a lie tactic I used to tell my twins to get them to behave.
You see, there’s this shot that children doctors can give little boys and girls who misbehave – it’s called “Good Boy” or “Good Gir” and when a child misbehaves too much, the parent can request this very painful shot that will miraculously make the child behave all the time.
Once while I had the boys at the doctor, a child in the next room was screaming bloody murder. Something was obviously not agreeing with him and he was going to let the entire floor of that hospital know it.
The boys looked at me with intense fear
Trey “Mommy, is that boy getting a shot of good boy?”
Mommy “Yup, sure sounds like it”
You could have heard a pin drop in our room the rest of our visit. After we left the doctors office, the boys were on their best behavior.
From then on, a simple mention of the shot was all it would take to get them to behave. That was up and until the doctor told them on that final visit that they’d be shaving before they had to get another shot.
So much for that tactic, but hey, I got a few good years out of it.
