Global Warming – What Are Kids Learning?

As I listened to youngsters learning a new song about global warming and the greenhouse effect, I thought, “Propagandizing in high gear!”

It’s being forced on young minds with a catchy tune and repetitive chorus.  Some of the lines of the song contained distorted or outdated information.

The chanting of these words over and over made an impression on the children. “That sticks in my mind,” one youngster commented after music class. “I can’t stop singing it.”

Was this the intention?   Coupled with the “Going Green” theme at many schools, these activities can’t help but imprint misinformation upon our youngsters even though they do learn some that is true.   I didn’t hear any facts about the research that disproves many of the theories mentioned in the song.

As more and more scientists find facts that counter many of the scary ideas associated with global warming and exaggerated greenhouse effect, the agenda in schools and with our government is to ignore them and to impress young minds without giving  balanced information.

Do you know what your kids are singing at school I’m discovering it’s not entirely what they’re being taught in the traditional classroom.  The songs they sing are very selective in getting across various agendas, too.

I don’t think encouraging kids to live more environmentally-conscious lives is a bad thing in any way.

Thanks, Paul, for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. I agree, I don’t think it’s a bad idea to encourage kids to live environmentally conscious lives. It’s when they’re fed misinformation and outdated information that I get concerned. Also, when they aren’t presented two sides and thought to think rather than following blindly I wonder what the agenda is.
