Cyndi, something tells me you could make some cool gourd art.

Noreen, I’m trying to picture the doll gourds. I’m guessing they look a bit like wooden dolls. I have the warm weather for gourds, just no land right now. Maybe I can talk my parents into growing some for me.

There are a lot of dollmakers who use gourds.The growing season is too short here to successfully grow gourds, but maybe when we move to a warmer climate…. yes!

I’ve never gotten into actually doing gourd art, but I have often admired pieces by various artists. Maybe it’ll go on my “someday” list!

Yes, I’ve done gourd art. It’s really fun to take something so ordinary and make something beautiful or useful from it.

Rosemary, the book didn’t include any gourd nativity scenes. That’s a new one, but maybe I’m just not up with the gourd scene. : ) I would like to try this some time, but I’d have to buy one. No space to grow a gourd right now.

I have one of these that someone gave to me as a gift about 20 years ago. He made a nativity scene with all of the figures. Really nice and unusual.
