Good Bye To That Billboard

The PETA “Got Autism? billboard has been taken down by the advertising company that was hosting it. PETA’s blog nonetheless noted that the billboard garnered tons of feedback,” with “support from parents of autistic children who have seen noticeable improvements after removing dairy from their child’s diet” specifically noted but not more, ahem, “sour” responses.

Lamar Advertising stated that after reviewing the copy internally it was decided that the ad was inappropriate-um, four days after the ad had been displayed…after they took the $$ and built and hung the billboard.
Public pressure really works-and if a hue and cry from Autism activists was not enough…..if I was at the Dairy Board right now I would have been meeting with my lawyers….think about what happened to Oprah when she did a show about beef and safety. The ‘beef, it’s whats for dinner’ people sued her but she won because she did not lie about the beef industry-everything she showed on TV was found to be the truth about slaughterhouses.
PETA would not have fared as well in court, IMO.

Good point about the Dairy Board.
Buh-bye billboard. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
I am so glad it was taken down. Hopefully people will think through these ads a bit more since people continue to protest.
